A matched pair of functional teapots, these are wall hangings made of stoneware clay.

Construction sequence: Hand-built and press mold. Both initially fired to cone 06. Glazed according to preferences of buyer who commissioned them through the River Gallery, Chattanooga, TN.

For Princess Purse (on right), black underglazes were applied and rubbed off to yield black color within the woven parts and white color on the surfaces. Refired to cone 6. Red China paints were applied to accents. Then the piece was refired to cone 015. Coat of opalescent red overglaze was painted to the accents. Refired again to cone 017.

Top-Hatted Tea Tote had underglaze of terra cotta color appied. This was rubbed off to give deep orange coloring to the textural woven areas. The work was then air-brushed with pumpkin, orange and yellow underglazes. It was fired again to cone 6. Gold opalescent overglaze accents were added. Final refiring was done to cone 017. Beading was added to form both handles.
