SMALL SODA-FIRED VESSEL

 

  

Stoneware vessel of stoneware clay decorated in extruded clay coils and turquoise and silver glaze.

  • This ceramic stoneware piece was thrown and then altered.
  • An extruder was used to create the tiny rows of clay coils that decorate the surface.
  • Construction sequence: First fired to cone 06. Then sprayed with a back matte glaze onto the outer surface. Turquoise matte glaze added. Vessel was then soda-fired. Embellished by adding touches of silver leaf. Black glaze for the interior of the piece.
