The container and lid for this hand-built teapot were formed of self-made porcelain and stoneware paperclay.

The lid was designed as a fortune cookie fashioned from a slab of stoneware paperclay.

Construction sequence: initially fired to cone 06. Underglazes hand painted. Image transfer of the fabric pattern design was done by air-brushing onto the surface of the container. Refired to cone 5/6. Opalescent gold glaze applied to bamboo, noodles and fortune cookie. Final firing to cone 017. Completed by adding cold finish of Cubic Zirconium gems and checkered Fimo clay pieces to the noodles.

This ceramic teapot represents a further artistic progressioin from two prior comparable works, Doggie Bag and I Love Lucy, both of which were teapots designed with motifs of puppies emerging from Chinese take-out containers.

One of the main changes for this art work was the introduction of stop-action dynamism to the off-center Miniature Pinscher puppy in its frantic atetmpt to escape the confines of the noodle-packed container. I wanted the box to be crushed because of the breed's greater size and strength. Another objective was to create faux bamboo handles out of stoneware clay, designed in a traditional Chinese form. This proved to an exciting challenge requiring use of multiple layers of glaze to achieve.

The spout of the teapot is the puppy's snout. The lid is the fortune cookie atop the noodles in the container.
