This piece is a stoneware teapot sculpted in the form of a crushed milk carton with bovine characteristics, including horns for the lid, a tail for the handle, and an udder for embelishment.
It is colored in underglazes to emulate a cowhide pattern.
Construction sequence: Initially fired to cone 06. Underglazes and lettering are appiled by air-brushing and painting. Refiring is done to cone 5/6. Opalescent gold luster is applied. Third firing to cone 017. Gold luster applied to the horns. Final refiring to cone 018. Cold finished with gold leaf.
This stoneware teapot represents a further evolutionary development from the prototype Got Tea?, based on a deconstructed milk carton with bovine attributes, including cowhide pattern, cow's horns, hooves, tail and udder.
Design of coloration is more complex and integrated than it was with Got Tea?, aiming at a Pop Art interpretation.
The outer surface is glazed in white at first; the interior surface in black. A line of wax is placed on the lip of the pouring spout to ensure it will be pure white.
