CRITTERS FROM THE COVE:  FABRIC PAINTING

Fabric paint on a silk-screened frog image for one panel of a large wall hanging.
  • This large quilted wall-hanging fabric painting was undertaken as a parallel exploration while I was working on the porcelain tile mural, Forest Lake Critters.
  • Each panel of this work consists of a 5" x  7" white cotton fabric segment on which one of six selected Forest Lake wildlife images is photo silk-screened, including frog, turtle, loon, dragonfly, small mouth bass and white perch.
  • Each image is enhanced and provided with intricate detailwork using hand-painting with fabric paint.
  • The finished cloth segments are stitched together, the composite work is bordered, backed and quilted.
  • Date: 2011.
  • Size: [to be entered].
  • Available for purchase.

CREATIVE PROCESS

Fabric paints applied over silk-screened frog image on cloth.

  • This is the first panel of a large quilted wall-hanging fabric painting, composed of a number of individually-made cloth segments.
  • A photo silk-screened image is transferred to a white cloth panel.
  • Fabric paint is then applied over the silk-screened image to enhance the colors and add details.
